John & Scott Sampson are both avid supporters of motorsport in New Zealand and overseas. Along with building engines for other motorsport enthusiasts, they also compete in Classic racing at various race meetings within the North Island.
John currently competes in the Arrow Wheels Series, in his 1970 Ford Capri RS2600 V6. He built this car from the ground up in the early 90’s, over a period of about 5 years. He has been racing for the last 13 seasons. The car has been very competitive and reliable over this time, with great results including winning the Intermarque Classic Race Series in 1999/2000 and 2000/2001, and also the Tracer Series in 2005/2006.
Scott is currently taking a season off from the BMW E30 Race Series while he has a new project on the go. His 1972 Ford Capri 3.0L V6 is back from the paint shop, and he’s in the process of reassembling the car and building a new engine. Prior to the Capri and BMW, Scott has built and raced a number of vehicles including a 1975 Mark II Escort RS2000 (Replica).
As a family, the Sampsons have enjoyed many years of racing together, not only as competitors, but also as spectators, supporting the many cients and friends they have got to know over the years.
