Line Boring & Line Honing

Overtime the main tunnels in a block can lose their shape & alignment, which can cause a multitude of engine issues. As part of our standard process, all main tunnels are checked to compare their size & tolerances against the manufacturers specifications. If there are any discrepancies, there are a couple of ways we can rectify this. The first option is line honing where after machining the parting faces of the main caps to reduce the tunnel size, the tunnels are then honed with a mandrel to the required specifications. The second option is line boring. Using our CNC Machining Centre we first machine the parting faces of the main caps to reduce the tunnel size, then bore the tunnels to the required specifications, which gives more accurate results. Line boring is also the only way to go when fitting after-market main caps, e.g. steel 4-bolt main caps to a V8 block, which can all be carried out on our CNC Machine.
